Be An Influencer

An influencer is essentially just someone who has a following. An influencer is someone who's an established or respected voice, typically within a certain niche. A popular fashion blogger for example would be an influencer for fashion. Someone like the Pioneer Women would be an influencer in the food and cooking niche.

When you become an influencer and have some pull you may find you'll start to be contacted by brands who want you to Tweet about or Blog about their product, service, or website. Companies will pay you to Tweet about their brand or their new product.

Even if you're not yet an influencer to the level of having companies reaching out to you there are still ways to monetize Twitter. First off you could reach out to companies who make products you enjoy. Tell them you enjoy their product and how you feel your readers or viewers would as well. Tell them how many followers you have as well as how engaged they are; ie. do they retweet your stuff, ask questions, start discussions, etc.  Essentially your trying to sell yourself to the brand as to why you would be a valuable resource for them to get their word out to the masses.

There's one other option if your not being contacted by brands and if you're not having luck proactively reaching out to brands. There are many sites out there like SponsoredTweets.Com and others which assist in connecting you with brands. These sites typically work by tweeting a message the brand has decided they will pay people to Tweet. There's also other sites where you can be given free products to review. Oftentimes the "gig" will involve Tweeting a message about the product as well as sharing on several social media platforms. 

Tweet Affiliate Links 

Tweeting out affiliate links is another way to make money on Twitter. For those of you not familiar with affiliate programs do some research on things like Clickbank Products, Amazon Affiliate, eBay Partner Network, and more.

Some of my favorite affiliate programs are Amazon Affiliate Program, eBay Partner Network, and Clickbank. Personally I havn't had a lot of success with Clickbank, however the margins and payouts are great and some people do report great success.

So how does one make money on Twitter with an Affiliate Link? Let's say I find a great new product I like. I may do a blog post reviewing the product, showing how to use it, showing how it benefits the user. I may then send out a Tweet with a link to my blog post as well as a link to where to buy the product on Amazon. I would also include a link to the Amazon product on my blog post. If someone clicks the link either on Twitter or in the Blog post that link contains my affiliate ID and I will be given credit for anything that person buys on Amazon for the next 24 hours; whether it's the product I Tweeted or a different product.

Promote Your Own Products Or Store

Maybe you sell on eBay, Amazon, or own and operate your own e-commerce store. Twitter is a great place to post everytime a new product is posted on eBay or on your store. If it's a product your selling I'd also suggest including a picture of the product in the Tweet.

Once you get a bit more advanced you can use a tool like IFTT.Com to automate your posts so instead of having to manually send out a Tweet everytime you post a new item on eBay, you can connect IFTT to your eBay account and Twitter account and everytime you post a new product on eBay it will be automatically posted on Twitter. You can also use IFTT to automate posts to pretty much any other social media platform as well.
